It's 2022 and digital creators have exploded. As of 2022, there are more than 51 million YouTube channels out there. Not only this, social media native communities have exploded. Reddit’s communities have gone mainstream.
At the same time, both the impact and censorship of these online communities have reached the highest levels of public discourse - economically, politically, morally and socially. As a result, creators and communities are looking for new ways to do things.

There are 2 angles to this.
One is the financing angle: people need money to create things. A lot of Blockchain projects distribute tokens to creators and ask them to create things on the platform
The second is that it’s all about distribution. Modern age Creators or communities often don’t need the money.
For example, how much does it cost a popular TikTok star to create a video? Next to nothing. However, what all creators and communities need desperately, is a fanbase or community that the centralized platforms have restricted or coupled it with so many algorithmic restrictions that it's impossible to know who your 1000 True Fans are.
Blockchain and Cryptography as a technology exactly provide the solution to this.
Like via NFTs you sell a piece of your work and a community is created around it. Your early users become your distribution or create collector DAOs around NFTs. This is especially difficult to achieve in an algorithmic feed world that is changing every day.
Incase of Gaming, where issues like centralized platforms own the assets are demotivating for Builders and Users, " You bought this skin and you can't transfer that into another game?" That feels unfair at this point.
Web 3 can only innovate and makes sense once you have a truly digitally native property rights system. Blockchains are exactly that.
If you connect the dots and look at the overall picture that crypto and blockchain have enabled, is everyone who has a wallet and interacts with a crypto app is building history and the start of a crypto-based online identity. And then that identity can start to unlock different things: a financial community, an art-based community or simply a meme community - communities where people not just earn economic incentives but also have digital ownership.
